I saw with my own eyes how is life in the most famous Cote d’Azur locations. |
| De la Nisa la Cannes drumul cu trenul este o placere. Ajungi imediat in orasul care gazduieste celebrul festival de film. Nu trebuie sa ratati ocazia sa pasiti pe covorul rosu. La un pas de Palais des Festivals, celebra cladire care gazduieste festivalul de film este si hotelul Martinez, destinatia preferata a tuturor vedetelor de cinema.
Cannes beneficiaza de o plaja larga cu nisip, insa si preturile sunt pe masura. E mare bataie pe sezlongurile din “premier ligne” – locurile de langa apa. Cei din linia intai platesc bani frumosi pentru acest privilegiu. Preturile scad apoi pe masura ce te indepartezi de tarm. Exista insa si pontoane private cu “scoruri” de peste 100 de euro pentru o zi de plaja. St. Tropez este o alta destinatie preferata de vedetele din intreaga lume. E si mai greu sa ajungi aici. Cel mai des, turistii aleg varianta clasica – masina, dar e mare aglomeratie vara. Vedete si milionarii care isi petrec vacanta la St. Tropez prefera insa alte mijloace, mult mai rapide: iachtul sau elicopterul personal. Daca nu vreti sa faceti plaja, la St. Tropez puteti face cumparaturi in magazinele de lux sau puteti alege sa vizitati celebra Jandarmerie, din filmele cu Louis de Funes. |
It’s a pleasure to take the train from Nice to Cannes. You can get in no time to the city that hosts the famous film festival. Don’t miss the chance to walk on the red carpet. Near the Palais des Festivals, you can find another famous place: Hotel Martinez, that is chosen by most of the celebrities that visit Cannes.
In Cannes, you can find a wide, sandy beach, but watch out, the prices are high. It’s a big deal to choose a spot in the “premier ligne” – near the water. The people pay a higher price for the chaises longues that are closer to the shore. You can also find private locations, that charge 100 euros a day for a sunny lounge. St. Tropez is another star filled summer destination. It’s harder to get here. Most people choose a car ride – even if the road is crowded in the Summer. All the stars and rich people choose faster means of transport: a private yacht or helicopter. If you don’t want to go to the beach, you can shop in the luxury stores or you can visit the famous Gendarmerie, made popular by the French series starring Louis de Funes. |
| Tot o zi am rezervat si pentru un drum cu trenul la Monaco. Aici te simti intr-adevar in alta lume. Pe strazi vezi aproape exclusiv masini de lux si la fiecare pas auzi turisii vorbind despre Grace Kelly, printesa de Monaco. | I reserved a day for a trip to Monaco. Here it’s like you’re in a movie. The streets are almost exclusively filled with deluxe cars, and all the tourists are talking about the famous Grace Kelly, the Princess of Monaco. |
| Aveti cu siguranta ce vedea, pentru ca am avut doar o zi la dispozitie, am ales sa vizitez Gradina Botanica, a doua ca marime din Europa, am admirat statuia lui François Grimaldi si am invatat ca liftul e folosit ca … mijloc de transport in comun. Lifturile usureaza legaturila intre strazile aflate la niveluri diferite de inaltime. Oamenii sunt extrem de prietenosi. Un batranel ne-a invatat secretul lifturilor din Monaco, iar la final ne-a rugat sa il invatam cum se spune “Multumesc” in limba romana. | There’s a lot to visit, but for only one day we chose the famous Botanical Garden. I have also admired the statue of François Grimaldi. As a fun fact: the elevator is used here as a public transportation system. The elevators ease the access to the roads that were built on different levels. An old man shared this secret with us, and when we parted ways, he wanted to know in return how to say “Thank You” in Romanian (Multumesc) |
| N-am avut noroc deloc de vreme buna. Desi era vara, a plouat torential si cum nu am vrut sa renuntam la plimbare, in cateva ore am ajuns sa fim uzi pana la piele. Am gasit o varianta pentru buzunarul nostru si ne-am cumparat haine de schimb de la Decathlon. Ploaia ne-a stricat si restul planului. Noi am fi vrut sa vedem si un meci pe fotbal pe stadionul celor de la Monaco, Louis II, dar n-am avut noroc. Ploaia torentiala a anulat meciul si noi am ramas cu buza umflata. | The weather was rainy in Monaco, but we didn’t want to cancel our tour of the city so in only a few hours we were totally drenched. We found a cheap solution and we bought new clothes from a Decathlon store. We also wanted to see a soccer match starring the local team, Monaco, but the luck wasn’t on our side. The game was cancelled because of the rain. |
| Mi-a placut mult la Monaco, viata chiar e roz aici si locuitorii au alt ritm. Nu o sa uit niciodata discursul soferului din autobuz, care a tras masina pe dreapta de suparare ca un pasager l-a contrazis in materie de … fotbal. Chiar am fost in pericol sa pierdem ultimul tren de Nisa din cauza polemicilor legate de fotbal 🙂 | I loved Monaco – the people who live here have another take on life, a more relaxed perspective. I will never forget how the bus driver almost made us lose the last train back to Nice. He pulled over to confront a passenger that supporter another soccer team 🙂 |
