This was our last day here so we took it slow after for full days. We packed our bags after breakfast and wanted to visit the Borghese Galleries … but remembered quickly enough the museum is closed on Mondays. That’s another reason to come back to Rome. We decided to stroll around Rome just for the fun of it. I like “to get lost” on the streets and see the city from a non-touristic perspective.

Unfortunately, it started to rain again so we took cover in the wax museum. The tickets cost 10 euros, but the figures are not so impressive. I recommend a visit only if you have some time to lose. However, the whole visit was made better by the depiction of a famous scene from  The Shining.

Am admirat pentru cateva minute in liniste aceasta cladire minunata. Si chiar daca ploua, pentru cateva clipe soarele a iesit si a luminat acoperisul cladirii. O imagine care imi va ramane in minte. The streets took us back to the Pantheon, which remains my favorite place in Rome. I took a few minutes to let the feeling sink in and admire the building one more time. Even if it was still raining, the sun came through for a second and lit up the building’s ceiling. It’s an image that will stay with me.

We stopped at a nearby gelato shop, Venchi, which had amazing ice cream and chocolates. You can see for yourself how amazing it looks, and the taste is divine.

Apoi am descoperit si piata Minerva, care gazduieste o statuie care mie mi-a placut mult.  We also discovered Minerva square, that’s hosting this lovely statue of an elephant.

We took a stroll back to the Piazza del Popolo and as our time in Rome was coming to an end, we decided to eat another plate of delicious pasta and head out to the airport. There are still many amazing places that I was not able to visit during my trip to Rome, but I hope to return one day and complete my checklist. Meanwhile, if you are in Rome make sure to:

Eat a delicious Pizza at Pizza Re and try the gelato at Venchi. By the way, you can find a small Venchi Shop in Bucharest also, on Calea Victoriei, close to Victoriei’s Square, and the taste is the same, tested and guaranteed 🙂 only the delicious whipped cream from Rome is missing from Venchi in Bucharest.
