Pentru mine mancarea este una dinte micile placeri ale vietii si intotdeauna ma bucur atunci cand gasesc in Bucuresti un loc special, care ma face sa imi doresc sa revin din nou si din nou ca sa incerc gusturi speciale. E fix ceea ce mi s-a intamplat cu Paine si Vin. REWIEW: TRATTORIA BUONGIORNO

Incet-incet descopar ca imi place foarte mult sa va scriu despre … mancare. Asta si pentru ca sunt gurmanda de cand ma stiu. Cu greu ma convingea mama in copilarie sa nu mananc toata ciocolata intr-o singura zi si sa pastrez si pentru restul saptamanii. Principiul e simplu: “Traieste clipa”. Ma bucur pe moment de ce am si daca nu imi ramane si pentru mai tarziu … pai atunci asta e. Macar am fost fericita mai devreme.

Sa trecem deci, la fapte. Saptamana trecuta mi-am delectat papilele gustative la Trattoria Buongiorno (de pe Lascar Catargiu).

Am incercat Ravioli rosso con Buratta in traducere libera: Ravioli proaspete, muguri de pin, smântână dulce, parmezan. Buuunnnn rau de tot, iar sosul de smantana a fost perfect, nu a ingreunat deloc preparatul.

I’m just realizing that I love to write for you about … food. It’s because I’ve been a food lover since I can remember. In my childhood, my mom could barely get me to save a piece of chocolate for the next day. It’s really easy actually: I prefer to live in the moment and enjoy what I have now. If I don’t save some for later … it’s not a loss. At least I was happy while it lasted.

Let’s get down to business. Last week I’ve delighted myself with some delicious food at Trattoria Buongiorno (located on Lascar Catargiu Street).

We’ve tried Ravioli Rosso con Burrata: Fresh ravioli, pine nuts, cream, parmesan. Reallyyyyy tasty. The cream sauce was just right, not heavy at all, just a delight with the rest of the ingredients.

REVIEW: DINING AT SAINT GEORGE, BUCHAREST

Cand nu am timp sau bani sa calatoresc, imi place sa ma simt ca in vacanta in Bucurestiul meu. Asa ca la fiecare pas prin oras incerc sa gasesc frumusetea ascunsa a locurilor prin care trec. Ca sa nu ma plictisesc niciodata, imi place sa ies in locuri cat mai diverse, si sa incerc lucruri cat mai diferite. E valabil si atunci cand vine vorba de o cina in doi. Din cand in cand, mancarea gatita in casa nu e de ajuns, ai nevoie doar de un locusor linistit, unde sa bei ceva si sa mananci ceva bun. When I don’t have the time or money to travel, I like to take a moment and feel like I’m on vacation in my Bucharest. I try to find the hidden beauty of the city with every step I take. I don’t like to visit the same places every time, it would be boring, so I try to mix it up and try different things. This also counts when we’re planning a dinner out for two. From time to time homecooked meals are not enough, all you need is a quiet place to drink and eat something tasty.

YUMMY PIES IN BUCHAREST

Mereu merg cu placere sa mananc La Placinte; nu am incercat pana acum ceva din meniul lor care sa nu imi placa. Evident, preparatele de baza sunt … placintele, care vin in multe forme si cu arome diferite. Ultima data am incercat invartite cu cartofi si branza de oi, dar la fel de bune sunt cele cu branza de oi si verdeata, pe care le comand mereu cu incredere. Daca nu aveti chef de placinte, apoi, aveti de unde alege, iata ce bine arata puiul invelit in bacon, care vine impreuna cu salata de varza si un sos delicios. Sau un alt preparat nou care mie imi place mult – taitei de casa cu branza de oi. Deserturile sunt toate la fel de bune, fie ca vin sub forma de placinta sau alte bunataturi. Si pentru ca a venit frigul, puteti sa asezonati totul cu un pahar de vin fiert aromat. If I’m in the mood to eat something delicious, then La Placinte (Pie’s place) is a sure bet, you can’t leave disappointed. Obviously, the main dishes are the pies, which come in many shapes and flavors. Last time I tried one with potatoes and sheep cheese, but the ones with cow cheese and herbs are as tasty if not even more so. If you’re not in the mood for pie, you have many other dishes to choose from, the chicken wrapped in bacon is very tasty and it comes with cabbage salad and a delicious sauce. I also love the homemade noodles, that go great with sheep cheese. The desserts are even better, either in pie form or other tasty treats. And because the cold weather is here, you can also order a delicious mulled wine to go with all the goodies.

Sometimes you need to stop and enjoy the good things in life. One of my favorite dessert places is Cremeria Emilia. You can taste a delicious ice cream and other tasty specialities.

Review: Alioli, Bucharest

Iubesc mancarea din Spania, asa ca oricand poftesc la ceva dau fuga cu drag la Alioli. Au un meniu minunat si multe bauturi aduse direct din Spania. Daca nu stiti ce sa alegeti, atunci eu va recomand Paella (cu carne, fara sau cu fructe de mare) nu aveti cum sa dati gres. Ce nu mi-a placut ultima data a fost faptul ca nu mai poti comanda tortilla; au scos-o din meniu. Serios, trebuie sa o adaugati din nou, este preferata mea si este reprezentativa pentru Spania. I love Spanish food, so whenever I crave something I head out to Alioli. They have an amazing menu, topped off with great Spanish drinks. Paella is my favorite dish here so go with this if you can’t decide. You have multiple options: chicken, vegetarian or sea food. The only thing I don’t like is that they only make tortilla by demand, you can’t order it off the menu anymore. Tip: put it back in the menu, no meal is a Spanish meal without “tortilla de patatas”.

PRANZ LA THE BARREL / LUNCH AT THE BARREL

A venit si vremea calduroasa, perfecta pentru plimbari lungi si relaxante. Asa ca, dupa ce am batut centrul Bucurestiului in lung si in lat am decis sa iau o pauza de pranz la The Barrel.

Vremea era perfecta, asa ca am luat loc pe terasa primitoare. Atmosfera misto, de vara, angajati amabili si saritori si turisti peste tot in jurul meu. Mai-mai sa cred ca am aterizat in vreo metropola vestica.

Meniul e aratos si mancarea nu a dezamagit. Patronii localului s-au orientat spre mancarea britanica si au ales bine. Daca nici englezii nu mai stiu ce si cum sa manance … Preturile sunt ok pentru Centrul Vechi al Bucurestiului, mai mult, exista si o oferta pentru mesele de pranz. Eu m-am aruncat la o salata mediteraneana si am ales bine. Printre altele, salata continea si branza calda, rumenita. Am mers apoi pe oferta de pranz, muschiulet de porc marinat, servit cu cartofi prajiti si salata verde. Yam! Aici patronii au lasat englezismele de-o parte, prezentarea a fost suta la suta romaneasca.  Totul a mers bine de tot alaturi de un pahar de bere. Cheers mates!

The warm weather is finally here, it’s perfect for taking long and relaxing walks. After I’ve visited Bucharest’s Old Town, I’ve stopped for a lunch break at  The Barrel.

The weather was very hot, so I took a seat on the welcoming terrace. Hip atmosphere, nice employees, and tourists all around me. I almost thought I’m in a western European city.

The Menu looks good and the food didn’t disappoint us. Most of the food is British inspired and the prices are good. They even have a lunch special offer. My first choice was the Mediterranean salad, which contained warm grilled cheese. Then I’ve tried the lunch special: marinated pork with fries and salad. Yam! This time, the plate looked 100 % of Romanian inspiration. All of these accompanied by a glass of beer. Cheers mates!
