ROME DAY ONE: FOUNTAINS, FAMOUS SQUARES, AND RAIN

Post available in English and Romanian
We landed at the smaller airport, Ciampino and took the bus to the Termini station (the mainline railway station in Rome). We had a direct metro connecting us to our hotel but surprise … that particular line was closed because of a strike. Of course, they did not bother to put in place an announcement in English, but what do I care, since I have no problem understanding and speaking basic Italian.

POWDERED SUGAR AND COTTON CANDY

Post available in English and Romanian
Titlul descrie perfect felul in care a aratat zborul nostru spre Roma. The title describes perfectly how our flight to Rome looked like. From the airplane window, the fallen snow across Europe looked just like powdered sugar on a cake.

MY STAY IN ITALY

Post available in English and Romanian

Vacanta mea in Italia a fost una speciala. Puteti citi despre ea aici.

My vacation in Italy was truly special. You can read about it here. The views, the people I’ve met, the unique culture, the delicious food and the sunny weather were all key elements for a good trip. Another important thing is where you sleep. Here is where I took a breath during my journey through Italy.

BELLA ITALIA

Post available in English and Romanian

Cand o sa va plictisiti, o plimbare pe malul raului Arno o sa va dezmorteasca. Peisajul arata superb la apus.

My first stay in Italy was about 2 weeks long; I fell in love on the spot. I planned with care all the details: cities to visit and how long we should stay. We didn’t rent a car, we took the plane to Italy and the train in between cities. I’ll write about the hotels in a future post. Until then, let’s begin the trip:

THE BEGINNING: BUCHAREST – PISA

I couldn’t have picked a better place for the start of our trip. During the summer, Pisa is like a breath of fresh air. You’ll spend an entire day admiring the Leaning Tower. Take a deep breath and climb the almost 300 stairs; when you are near the top you can actually feel how inclined the tower is. The tower is located in Piazza dei Miracoli, next to the Duomo, the cemetery and museums. When you get bored, take a walk along the banks of the river Arno . The sunset is amazing.
